Accessibility statement for Pay your court fine or maintenance order

This accessibility statement applies to the Pay your court fine or maintenance order service. The service begins after you click the ‘Start now’ action button on the Pay a court fine page of the gov.uk website.

The service provides a way of paying your court fine or maintenance order online. The payment itself is submitted through and handled securely by Barclaycard.

This website is run by the Ministry of Justice. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • resize text without assistive technology up to 200 percent without loss of content or functionality
  • zoom in up to 300 percent without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • the page where you input your card details (Barclaycard ePDQ) does not work with some forms of speech recognition software.  It is compatible in both Internet Explorer and Google Chrome using Dragon Speech Recognition Software version 15
  • there is some poor colour contrast throughout the form
  • headings and labels describing the topic or purpose are not consistent and may not allow screen readers to be clear
  • the service may not read well if it is in another language

We are working with Barclaycard to upgrade the payment pages to a more modern and accessible version.
